With the talk of eliminating reshoots on another forum, what regular maintenance do you do to keep your guns and gear ready to go.

Clean & inspect them after every shoot sometime during the week after. I'll probably clean mine Thursday night before the Saturday shoot and/or look them over again if I've cleaned them earlier in the week. If they're wet I clean that night.

Before a big match I completely take my guns apart for cleaning and look for worn parts.

Check holsters and belts. Make sure there are no loose or missing screws, also check stitching on shotgun belt

I clean my firearms usually Tuesday or Wednesday after a match.  If it’s been rainy or damp, I wipe them down with a silicon infused cloth soon as I get home, then clean them.  I check the screws.  I’ll work the action of my rifle and shotgun, cock and dry fire my revolvers a few times Friday night when I’m getting ready for a Saturday match.

I try to clean them about once a year unless they get wet.

I agree with critter.if it ain't broke don't fix it ,but cleaning does help them run better and may improve gas mileage, he'll dad taught us that!
For those of you who say it takes to long to cleanyoure guns you can cut that time in half if you only worry about the inside workings.

Where is a reputable place to purchase short stroke kits for 1873 rifles?

In no particular order.  Cowboys and Indian Store. 5th generation.
http://cowboysandindianstore.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=5

Pioneer Gun Works. Super Short Kit

Shotgun Boogie Gun Works.
https://sbgwllc.com/shop/short-stroke-kit-for-uberti-mod-1866-and-1873/

No matter whose you buy you will probably want to buy their aluminum carrier, lighter springs and lighten the firing pin return spring, lightweight lever safety spring. More involved that just installing a kit and some will require adjusting the OAL of your ammo.
