Title: Test ur load at TMM- We need a chronograph
Post by: Cherokee Slim on January 07, 2019, 03:39:59 PM
It's been a while since we have done this.  We are looking for someone who has a chronograph who can bring it to the February TMM match.  The minimum standard for center-fire ammunition used in all smokeless categories in all SASS matches, including State, Regional, National, International, and World Championship competitions is not less than a minimum power factor of 60 and no velocity may be less than 400 fps. And as we all know, the maximum velocities are 1000 fps for revolvers and 1400 fps for rifles.  (2019 SASS Shooter's Handbook, pg 26)

If you were wondering what your reloads are doing or why your pistol rounds knock over stationary  targets this is a great chance to check them out.  This effort is strictly  optional.  No one  is required to participate.  We will setup a table away from check-in with a RO to help.  Please LMK if you have one that you can bring or lend.  If you want to lend one to me in January or February I will be responsible for it.  I have a  perfect record, I've never lost a chronograph yet.

Sounded like Dbl Eagle Dave was going to be  kind enough to bring his chronograph,  I'm curious  to see what my bullets are doing instead of guessing!

Please bring it.  We can run two at a time.

Big thanks to Slim Squirrel  and Frontier  Missy  for bringing  a chronograph  Saturday!.      I think.
Everyone  I saw made the minimum  velocity but quite a few dod not make minimum  power factor, which I think suprised many.
Going into this I knew several would be shooting so hot it scares our targets, big surprise was not meeting minimum power factor.
Maybe we will try it again when it gets over 80 degrees as Red mentioned.
Is this a issue at big shoots this day and age, or is it just a irrelevant  old rule?
