Howdy cowboys and cowgirls,
We're nearing the end of the year, which means it's time to start compiling scores for the Tennessee Mountain Marauders annual championship awards (I just made that title up!). As Keeper of the Tablets™, that task falls to me, your Vice President and resident newbie. Here are the club rules as I understand them:
- Your best times from 5 regular matches (that is, not 5th saturday) will be used in determining your rank. This means you must have shot at least 5 regular matches in 2020 to be considered for an award.
- In years that do not involve a pandemic, you would need to shoot 6 regular matches to be considered. Because we missed March and April, and December is not normally counted, that leaves us only 9 regular matches. For this reason, we've dropped the requirement from 6 down to 5.
- For those that shoot multiple categories/classes, you will have a ranking for each category/class you shot in at least 5 regular matches over the year. So if you shot Cowboy in 5 matches and Gunfighter in 5 matches, your alias would have an overall rank for each. With only 9 matches this year, obviously this is not applicable, unless we decide to count December (which is being discussed).
Please let me know if I got that wrong or missed something.
We have one more match, the November match, that will count towards the year end results. We have very few shooters that meet the 5-match qualification (currently 14 out of 109 registered shooters, pending corrections to the data issues below), and some shooters that are only a match away from qualifying. Please reach out to me if you'd like to know your standings or how many more matches you need to qualify.
In compiling the results through October, I've noticed some data inconsistences that I'd like everyone's help squaring up. Some of the errors might have come from me entering names incorrectly during registration, and some of the errors likely propagated from existing inaccurate data (such as spaces in aliases). I've culled through all the recorded matches this year and cleaned up what were obvious errors/inconsistencies, but there are some I need help diagnosing. The main problem I saw was people's aliases were misspelled, incorrectly capitalized, or had extra spaces before, after, or in the middle. Always use the same alias from shoot to shoot or you'll be creating data inconsistencies that will need to be manually corrected at the end of the year. I say that knowing it's on the pre-registration folks to get the names right in the tablet (aka me), however, many of these misspellings already existed in the tablets when I inherited them, so I think some people might have unknowingly been contributing to the problems in prior years. Practiscore will automatically add any shooter alias, however misspelled it is, to the list of recently used aliases which autocomplete as you type - making it hard for the person entering your alias to know which one should be used. Hopefully this mess is cleaned up after my recent efforts, but it's easy to get back off the rails again if someone else takes over tablet operations.
Please see below and respond to this post with corrections/clarifications.
Name inconsistencies:
- Slow Jen or Slo Jen?
- Shoot'n Sharyn or Shootin Sharyn?
- Suttie or Suddie?
- Iron Horse Dan or Ironhorse Dan?
- jimmie gunnfighter -- with two "n"s?
Potentially anomalous categories for same shooter - number of matches shot with each category is in parentheses:
- Bad eye Tom - CB (4), FC (4)
- Appalucy - SLG (1), LSG (4)
- outcast - SG (3), FCD (1), FCG (2)
- slow jen - C (2), W (1) and LW (3)
- black jack lee - BW (1), FN (2) and W (2)
- shenandoah will - CBD (3), CB (2)
- cherokee slim - SS (4), ES (3)
- marshall too tall - UO (4), O (1)
- miss kitty kat - LSG (3), SLG (1)
- tenn mongo - SG (2), G(2)
- sudden sam - EG (1), ESG (5)
- Ocoee red - ES (2), SS (4)
- purly - ES (6), CB (1)
Picket,
My category should be Silver Senior Gunfighter, but because of the change of going from paper score sheets to a computer tablet, my category shows up as silver senior gunfighter, senior gunfighter, or gunfighter depending on the shoot.
It was difficult for some people to change it on the tablet so I quit trying. I have always shot gunfighter - I'll leave it to you guys to figure out what age division of gunfighter (hopefully one that would get me a belt buckle - if we are still doing that).
If it's just a certificate, please don't waste the paper or the ink.
Tennessee Mongo
Mongo, I'll change your records to be correct (SSG). Thanks
Slow Jen / lady wrangler.
There will be buckets Mongo at end of year choose wisely,!
That is a really cool idea! 8)
There is only one "l" in Marshal Too Tall
Thanks,
...Too Tall...
Iron Horse Dan
Thanks for the replies everyone. I've corrected the records for those that have responded.
Having done the end of year tabulation with mostly relying on everyone's favorite cowboy Sudde Sam's help and guidance i can say first hand its a time consuming task.
Thank you Pickett for taking this over, and all who care have been given notice to make sure your info is right!
Once again thanks to all the folks who make our Saturday shoots and club a success!
Appalucy. Senior lady gunfighter
Picket,
I just found some scoresheets in the back of my garage. Does this call for a recount? I can bring them Saturday.
Sam
(It's not a particularly fun job doing the EOY scores. Thanks for taking care of the Marauders.)
Nice Try Sam :)
Ok everyone here's a snippet of UNOFFICIAL results so far this year. So far we have 20 qualifying shooters. There are several folks that only need one more match to qualify and attendance is one of the primary factors that go into the annual awards! These results will change after Saturday's match, and might change even more if we decide to use 5th saturday shoots. But let this be some motivation to show up Saturday READY TO RUN.

pretty cool to put this up!
Quarterly report next year maybe interesting.
To all those following along at home with the TMM Champs app, I have the final PractiScore report ready (attached to this message). Unzip the attached ZIP file, which contains a single HTML file. Load this file into the app via File->Import and navigate to View->Annual Championship - Combined and View->Annual Championship - Category. These are the final results for the year, including the November match. We elected *not* to use 5th Saturday matches or the December match.
Everyone is welcome to check out the results, but I am asking the club officers as well as any other club member that has participated in scoring in the past to please review the results and let me know if there are any issues or if something doesn't "smell right". I would think at a minimum that should include Hurricane Charly, Purly, Double Barrel, Cherokee Slim, Frontier Missy, TN Mongo, and Sudden Sam. There might be others. I would like to get a sign off from everyone so we can "certify" these results. Please DM me directly, email or call me with approval/disapproval before this saturday's match.
Thanks
Is all the score on this list.
Tin Pot
Hey Tinpot, the scores are available using the instructions above. If you want me to export you a text copy of them so you can review them without using the TMM Champs program, just send me a message. I haven't posted the scores here, because I wanted to keep an element of surprise available for those that might want to be surprised saturday :)
Picket,
If you would mind, could you fix Miss Kitty Kat's stats?
She is listed 4 times as LSG at .26 and then she is listed once as SLG at .48. Can you combine these please?
Mongo
Fixed. Sorry about that, I could have sworn I already did this. I wonder if it was overwritten when tablets were synced after the November match.
Updated report attached.
Thank you sir!
Picket,
Tin Pot & Tinpot is the same cowboy.
Thanks, Tin Pot
Sorry about that Tin Pot. I've corrected your alias. I also corrected a similar issue for Sudden Sam.
Latest report attached.
