Decoclking pistol on fireing line

Pistol is first gun to be shot on the stage.  Timer operator gives a stand by and a beep.  Shooter draws pistol, cocks hammer but doesn't fire pistol.  Shooter looks at T O and asks for a restart. T O says shooter can restart as no shot has gone downrange. How should shooter proceed at tjis point?

If the hammer is resting on an unfired round need to hand off revolver and head to the unloading table. Need to find out why it didn't fire. If the hammer is down on an empty chamber did the shooter leave the loading table with the hammer down on a live round? Some will disagree but at this point I'd rather unload everything, get my head back straight and then head back to the loading table.

Ok ,let's say the shooter jumped the timer and stopped.  How is this to be corrected ?

Ask the TO if they can point the pistol downrange and ease the hammer down to get it back to ready.

What changes if gun is equipped  with half clock?
I'll  be taking R.o 2 this weekend and will bring this up.
I'm  not sure of the rule ,but I do have common sense and at this point I think there is no safer place to decock and reindex than the firing line under T.o.s supervision.

2nd part if shooter seems frazzled  as some.do I would treat it the same as a shooter comming to line and deciding they are not ready to shoot.
Back to loading table while under supervision or to unloading table get in line when you are comfortable.
